Prove to Dad You’re Not a Fool!

“Oh, back to school! Back to school! To prove to dad that I’m not a fool!” – Billy Madison

‘Tis the season for all those obligatory “welcome back” questions: “How was your summer?” “What did you do?” “Go anywhere fun?” “Did you do a summer program?” And all the typical answers: “Not long enough.” “I can’t believe it’s already over.” “My summer program sucked, but it was a good experience.”

Here at Operagasm, we’ve decided not to ask any of those questions and will instead be embracing the return of fall and all of its good tidings. Opera seasons, fall fashion, crunchy, newly fallen leaves, pumpkin guts gushing in your hands, cider, education, and most importantly, Pashminas! Red ones and gold ones and striped ones and knockoff ones!

Sadly, we were unable to find enough contributors to write about Pashminas, so this month we will be discussing the infinite aspects of education with topics ranging from conservatory versus university music education, attention deficit disorder in musicians, the importance of music education in public schools, and many other classic, but fresh topics. We will also be picking many brains, which should result in some great interviews this month! Be sure to check in Monday through Thursday for new articles and don’t forget that every Friday we give you a free dose of fresh audition and competition listings to keep your weekend productive. This month we will be featuring articles from Jeanne Ireland and Ace Edwards of the Lamont School of music, Italian violinist Ermanno Puliani, Dr. Larry Worster of Metropolitan State College in Denver, Glenn Winters with Virginia Opera, and many other smarties! This is all in addition to the news, reviews, fashion updates, and other fun tidbits we provide everyday!

Get your boots laced tight, pack a lunch, and stop pouting. School is in session and we’re making the best of it!
