A Little Bit of Juan Diego By My Side…

by Melissa Wimbish

Yum! Couldn’t you use a little Juan Diego Florez today? Who couldn’t?

If you don’t get a chance to catch him in Le Comte Ory at the Met, perhaps this eight minutes of delight will suffice. Here he discusses one of his favorite operas: Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini. Favorite quote from this interview: “Since I specialize in this repertoire [bel canto] and I do it okay, I said ‘Why not?’ I should be doing this aria…” in reference to the final tenor aria which is typically cut. You go boy! Also, I’m free next Saturday.
