Giving You the Best that We’ve Got!

Giving You the Best that We’ve Got!

The turkey has landed!

Welcome to another fun month of Operagasming! The focus for the month of November is “Giving Back” in which we plan to highlight some very important organizations, charities, and non-profits as well as discuss ways that we can give back (and are currently giving back) as artists. We are so fortunate to have another splendid lineup of writers from all over the country.

Anne Breeden, Founder of Arts At Large

Anne Breeden, Founder of Arts At Large

This month, pianist and founder of Arts at Large in Chicago, Anne Breeden will tell us more about this fantastic organization, its mission, and the amazing opportunities it creates for musicians while also providing a gift to the community. Music minister, Austen Wilson will discuss how people use their musical skills in their faith communities to give back. A regular now on Operagasm, Christina Marzano Haystead shares her ideas on starting a new opera company in Aurora, Colorado – an excellent and efficient way to give back to many! University of Colorado graduate and Egyptian baritone Ashraf Sewailam offers his story about the work he has done bringing opera to the Egyptian community in their own language. Gosh, what does that IPA look like?!

Ricardo Llorca, composer

We have two exciting interviews this month with some gentlemen that give back as part of their lifestyle…get it??…because they’re composers! Ricardo LLorca’s opera The Empty Hours will have its staged world premiere at Lincoln Center on November 19th. Rising talent and award-winning composer, Jake Runestad will discuss his first opera The Toll and other fun things! Check back in the next few weeks for the deets!

Wait there’s more – there’s always more! As part of our commitment to giving back to our awesome readers (at the request of one of our readers) we will begin a offering a FREE listing of vocal coaches, accompanists and voice teachers. This will not only serve as a resource to singers that need to find a last-minute accompanist at their random audition in Bowling Green, but it will also serve as free advertising for local vocal coaches, teachers, etc. More details will follow, so be looking for the information this month!

This is all in addition to the news, reviews, fashion, and other fun tidbits we bring to you each month! Remember that turkey and tofurkey are great for the voice, so be sure to get a 3rd and 4th helping this Thanksgiving. Also, remember to be thankful for Operagasm, because we are so thankful for you. Have a month full of delight and giving!
