International Opera Cribs: Part One
Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Architect: Francesco Tamburini and Vittorio Meano
This theater had drama even as it was being built! The architect died, his pupil was murdered and then the guy financing it died. Despite all the muerte, it is considered one of the most beautiful structures in the world and definitely a must-see if you’re in beautiful Buenos Aires.
National Grand Opera House in Beijing, China
Architect: Jean Andreu
Okay, China. This is pretty damn cool and it screams China even though it was designed by a French guy. Nicknamed “The Egg” this structure even includes an artificial lake. Eggcellent.
Teatro Amazonas in Manaus, Brazil
Architect: Celestial Sacardim
I love tradicional! This theater is located in the AMAZON RAINFOREST. I think that’s pretty remarkable.
Hanoi Opera House in Hanoi, Vietnam
Architect: Harley and Broyer
“They’re sending me to Vietnam. It’s this whole other country.” – Forrest Gump
Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Mexico
Architect: Adamo Boari and Federico Mariscal
Another beautiful opera crib located in “La ciudad”. Mexico City’s opera house is decked in Italian white marble on the outside and super sweet murals.
Dubai Opera House
Architect: Zaha Hadid with Patrik Schumacher
Is this even real yet? I couldn’t find any pictures that looked non-space-center.
Royal Opera House in London, United Kingdom
The crib of all cribs.
