The 2nd Law, Muse’s next album is slated for release in September. In the meantime, the band decided they should probably just write a really epic song for the Olympics.

Muse’s new song “Survival” was chosen as the official track of this year’s Summer Olympic Games hosted in London. According to Rolling Stone, “The song will play during sporting sessions, as athletes enter stadiums, and for the lead-ups to medal ceremonies.” So pretty much for everything ever. Thank goodness it’s Muse and not Bare Naked Ladies. Shudder.

The smoky-angelectric-voiced frontman Matthew Bellamy commented, “It’s a huge honor to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games, I wrote it with [them] in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win.”
