Musical Term of the Week

Musical Term of the Week

by Melissa WimbishDetroit-Pistons-Logo

Okay, Detroit…as a kid I always wondered what the heck your basketball mascot meant. While I watched the Chicago Bulls school you back in the 90s, I thought to myself,  “Well, what is so thrilling about a piston? Maybe if their mascot had some better qualities, they would win more championships.” Bulls are fighters and pistons are…what exactly?

Pistons – Round buttons, usually located immediately below the manuals on the organ keyboard, that are used to make quick stop changes. Pistons can be preset with any combination of stops. (Definition provided by Conducting Course)

Well, at least you’re quick! Kudos for that!
