Question of the Week

by Melissa Wimbish

Time for a subject that is extremely high-drama in the voice world: switching studios. (Insert scary music. Any sort of scary music.)

“Not a big deal” you say? Shut your mouth. We all know that’s not true. Voice teachers have been having temper tantrums about this for centuries. Said tantrums might be understandable if we, as singers, weren’t taught from a very early voice age that the decision to study with a different teacher is a completely acceptable practice! Puuuhleease.

Question: What is the most appropriate and efficient way to go about transitioning from one studio to another without destroying your current teacher’s feelings?

Leave your step-by-step advice below!
