The Juilliard School recently mounted a production of Francis Poulenc’s, Dialogues des carmélites at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in Lincoln Center.

Reared in the Catholic Church, nuns have always frightened me but this Poulenc staple makes me forget the conflict and embrace his use of rich recitative and lush melodic vocal lines.
