Rolando Villazon schedules comeback

by Christie Connolley

In April 2009, a cyst on Rolando Villazon’s vocal cords forced him to cancel the remaining performances for the year.  Operagoers wondered if he could recover or if this would be a career ending ailment for Villazon.

Wonder no more.  Villazon announced his engagement with the Vienna State Opera singing Nemorino in L’eliser d’amore on March 22, 2010.  That performance will be followed by his portrayal of Lensky in Eugene Onegin in Berlin on March 26, 31, and April 2.
