Shot out to the Figaro Project

by Melissa Wimbishfigaro

The article “Endings Create Beginnings in Baltimore” featured earlier in the month listed several opera companies in the Baltimore area that are stepping up after the demise of the Baltimore Lyric. Please add another to the list!

In her introduction of Baltimore’s newest opera company, The Figaro Project, general director, Caitlin Vincent, discusses the importance of  “[Making] opera a genre that does not disappear during times of economic hardship, but remains a constant presence to give people hope throughout their difficulties.” We hear that!

The Figaro Project will open their first season on February 26th with an aria showcase in the spirit of Valentine’s Day featuring local talent. Be on the lookout shortly after for their world premiere concert adaptation of Le nozze di Figaro.

  1. In the ’70′s this play financed a revolution.

    Now, it will revolutionize finances.

    Huzzah for all involved!
