TONIGHT – Attend a FREE AOP opera concert in Harlem!

Experience the creation of a new opera when AOP First Chance and Harlem School of the Arts present a free piano-vocal reading of Independence Eve, a new chamber opera in three scenes by composer Sidney Marquez Boquiren and librettist Daniel NeerJorell Williams and Brandon Snook portray men who struggle with identity and acceptance amidst race issues spanning one hundred years. Music direction / piano by Mila Henry.

Post-show discussion with the artists moderated by Laura Kaminsky (As One)
Includes the first scene of the opera, “Stop and Frisk”, recently featured in The New Yorker Magazine.
