Website of the Week

by Melissa Wimbish

Richard Sparks, conductor

With our focus on conductors this month, I will readily admit that I know very little about what “they” (conductors) are into. How do they find out about competitions? Is there a YAP app for them? Who is blogging about conducting? What’s the drama in the world of maestros?

Perhaps I’ll never know the answer to these questions, but I did some shuffling through the web and came across the nifty blog by American choral conductor Richard Sparks: http://richardsparks1.blogspot.com/ There’s a ton of awesome content and he keeps it updated! Step 1 of developing a better understanding of this vast kingdom of podiums and batons. Enjoy!
